Synopsis:
Paromita’s marriage with Sanaka’s son had failed. But a bind of friendship had grown between Paromita and her mother-in-law Sanaka in spite of the difference in their ages, backgrounds and temperaments. When Paromita’s little son Bablu dies, the tenuous thread that had held her marriage together until then snaps. Paromita and her husband decide to go their separate ways. Sanaka is heartbroken at the prospect of losing her only friend.
The film explores Sanaka’s loneliness and gradual decline in health after Paromita leaves the house in which she and Sanaka had lived together for almost twelve years. When Sanaka is very ill, Paromita who is by now remarried, comes back to the house, flouting convention, and nurses her friend at her deathbed. Their bond of friendship proves stronger than a sign on a dotted line.
