Antique Carved Daybed Rail

This intricately carved panel originally formed one of the side rails of a Chinese daybed crafted in Nanjing, Jiangsu province. Its large, central section showcases intricate relief carvings depicting guests being received at court. When paired with the other side rail and larger back rail, the set of three pieces illustrate a traditional narrative from Chinese history.
