Floriculture Department is playing a vital role in attracting tourists and promoting tourism in Kashmir. Every year, thousands of tourists from different parts of the world visit Kashmir to enjoy the mesmerising natural beauty including historical gardens and parks. Jammu and Kashmir Association (JKCA) has started a talent hunt programme to identify cricketing talent from far-flung areas. More than 10,000 talents are participating in this talent hunt. Giving the services and facilities being provided by the Department a further push, the Tourism Department has started pre pre-paid counter for pony service at the Pahalgam tourist resort. The service was launched by Secretary, Tourism, Sarmad Hafeez in presence of representatives of various Departments and local stakeholders. Under the prepaid service, tourists can book a pony ride at a designated spot, to begin with from Pony stand No.1 (near Petrol pump), and get a pony ride booked on designated routes for the rates notified by the Department. Jammu and Kashmir Handicrafts Department is providing skill training and promoting self-employment to empower women in far-flung areas of the Rajouri District. Women are getting free training in handicrafts, embroidery, cutting, and tailoring in Rajouri. Women below the poverty line are also provided stipends. A seven-day national mixed martial arts training camp was organized at Anantnag in South Kashmir in which players from Jammu Kashmir and other states participated. The training camp was organized by the All India Mixed Martial Arts Association (AIMMA) in collaboration with FSLD Martial Art Club in Pride Gym Anantnag. (KP)
