Honda CT70 Chopper Assembly - the lil' chop that could - Trail70 Dax

Описание к видео Honda CT70 Chopper Assembly - the lil' chop that could - Trail70 Dax

After my last Honda CT70 test ride video back in May, the 'lil chopper that could' was invited to a motorcycle show in September. Maybe a firm deadline was what I needed to get this thing finished up! Even still, I cut it pretty dang close! Two days before leaving for the show I finally had all the parts and pieces painted, polished and ready to go back together. Here's how it all went down.

The video itself is pretty chill and relaxed. I think I needed to make it that way since I definitely didn't feel that way at the time.... let me know what you think about this slower paced editing style! Also your thoughts on jazz lol

This is a 1974(I think) Honda Trail70, aka CT70, aka Dax. I bought a pretty rough example for $200 on Independence Day 2019 and spent the next few years picking at it here and there. The body/frame had some pretty nasty rust that I cut out and replaced with new metal welded in. I built this funky 'inverted springer' front fork using 22mm stainless steel tubing and a lot of stainless plate.

The most striking piece of this bike is probably the giant lightning bolt sissy bar which also serves as hardtail shock struts and is made out of aluminum polished to a mirror shine. Behind them sit a neat little 'Crazy Frank' style tailight housing I fabricated which holds a "Shi-Sa" tail light from Bratstyle in Tokyo. In between the bolts is this sparkling electric blue vinyl seat upholstered by New Church Moto. To top it all off, the body is painted with a silver metalflake to purple metalflake fade which I'm honestly a little proud of pulling off while under the gun.

I ditched the stock engine and replaced it with a high-compression 140cc piranha pit-bike unit. It scoots pretty good for a little bike! To top everything off, all the controls, from the handlebars themselves to the high-mount footpegs, are fabricated in-house.

It's honestly a stupid amount of effort to put into a minibike... but I'm happy with the results. Enjoy!
