In this video I go step-by-step on how to winterize a travel trailer, camper or RV for cheap by putting in a Camco Permanent Pump Converter Winterizing Kit. The thing I love about this is every year I am able to easily and affordably winterize my travel trailer without running antifreeze through the fresh water tank. This also eliminates needing to use a compressor to blow air through the lines, which can cause problems if too much pressure (PSI) is used.

Below I outline the exact steps I take to successful winterize my travel trailer camper every year.

Step-by-step How To Winterize Your Travel Trailer, Camper or RV With Antifreeze While Using a Camco Permanent Pump Converter Winterizing Kit

Step 1: Remove the (3) caps from underneath your travel trailer and let the water drain from your water tank & water lines

Step 2: Find the exterior drain plug for your hot water heater. You will remove this plug (mine takes a 15/16 fitting. Let the water drain and leave the water water plug somewhere you can easily find it.

Step 3: Shut off the valve coming from your water tank feeding into your hot water heater. Don't want antifreeze going into the hot water tank while winterizing.

Step 4: Turn on your water pump and listen for the water coming out of your lines out of the back end of your travel trailer or RV. Do this until water is out of the lines but don't leave on for a very long time so your water pump doesn't burn out.

Step 5: Splice in your Camco Permanent Pump Converter Winterizing Kit into the line coming from the water tank to your water pump.

Step 6: Screw on the Camco hose that comes with the winterizing kit and insert the hose into your RV antifreeze jug.

Step 7: Turn on your waterpump and turn on the faucets, shower, toilet etc. 1 by 1 until you start seeing the antifreeze coming out of the water lines.

(Side Note) - If your pump isn't funneling the antifreeze into the lines you may need to lift the antifreeze at an angle until the water pump suctions the antifreeze into the lines.

Step 8: Once you are seeing the antifreeze consistently coming through the lines 1-by-1 you can then disconnect the Camco rubber hose fitting and reinstall the brass cap onto the top of your Camco Winterizing Kit fitting that you installed in Step 5. You can then push the lever back into the direction to allow water to freely flow from the water tank to the water pump.

Step 9: Pour about 1/4 to 1/2 gallon down each of the sink drains you have in your travel trailer or RV. This will help make sure any water sitting in the pee traps will not freeze. After that I pour a gallon of RV antifreeze down the toilet and another gallon down the shower drain to make sure the black water tank and the gray water tanks have adequate amounts of antifreeze in them.

After those steps your camper, travel trailer or RV will be fully winterized.
