Today, we are going to do a versus video on 2 totally wireless outdoor weatherproof cameras. We have the Blink XT versus the Reolink Argus.

There are only a few outdoor Wifi Cameras today and definitely fewer options for battery operated and completely wireless ones. Aside from these 2, the only other one that I know is the Arlo...which is on the expensive side.

Now, personally..I will not rely my home's security with battery powered cameras. I just use them as a secondary or a backup just in case my other cameras didn't pick up and record the activity. I had my Blink XT for about 4 months now and I just recently purchased the Reolink Argus. I'll just glance on the features of the cameras and if you haven't watched it yet, I'll put the links to my original complete review videos on these cameras below.

Retail price of the Argus is $99 dollars at time of this video and the Blink XT with the required sync module is $129.00. With the blink you only need 1 sync module for up to 10 cameras.

The Argus is 1080p full HD and the Blink XT is 720p but is 1080p capable via an update. Now, I don't know if Blink rolled out this update already but you will see the comparison on the resolutions in my sample videos later on.

Argus has a 130 degree wide angle view and the Blink has 110 degrees

Both of the cameras are weatherproof and are designed to be used outdoors. You can definitely use them indoors also.

The Blink uses a separate sync module and I think this is more to save battery. When you access the camera's settings, it will be on the sync module which needs to be plugged in and should be indoors. On the other hand, the Argus is stand alone and everytime you change the settings on the camera, the Argus turns on.

As to batteries, the Blink XT only needs 2 double A batteries - the lithium ones and the Argus needs 4 CR123 lithium batteries. Now, the Blink states that the batteries will last up to 2 years and the Argus last around 6 months but on the Argus, you can also use rechargeable CR123s which will save you money in the long run.

Both cameras have night vision and the Blink has 1 LED and the Argus has 6 LEDs. When they record at night, these LEDs turns on and are visible which, basically will give away the location of the camera...so no discreet monitoring at night on both of these.
