"The quality of life in this country is the same as of any other rich country in the world, that is what we are defending here. This is the revolution, those are the human rights on this December 10 and we are not going to allow any mercenaries to tarnish this revolution."

STORYLINE:
Several Cuban dissidents were taken into custody on Thursday in Havana during a demonstration on one of the city's major thoroughfares to mark International Human Rights Day.
Demonstrators were chanting "long live human rights" and "Free Cuba," when they were quickly surrounded by both plainclothes and uniformed police and hustled into waiting police vehicles.
Some of the bystanders began chanting pro-government slogans and cheering as the demonstrators were taken away.
Some government supporters were seen shoving and pushing dissidents to the ground, and trying to prevent them from yelling slogans.
