Launched in September 2019, The Tidal Series comprises three limited edition artworks with Humans since 1982’s signature choreographed clock hands with a metal finish, presented for the first time on blue.

The shiny metal finish of the Tidal clock-hands against the dark blue body of the artworks is evocative of sunlight reflecting on the surface of water, or schools of fish as they catch the light while moving in unison underwater. The cyclical and cumulative patterns shown by the clock-hands are themselves wave-like, a constant ebb and flow between reporting the time each minute.

The choreographies shown, as with all A million Times pieces, are inspired by and draw upon natural, artistic and mathematical pattern formations. In the Tidal series, this combination of materials and choreographies becomes an intersection of the artists’ interest in the phenomena of order in nature and the patterns that exist within many aspects of design and technology.
