Описание к видео Maya Rendering - Batch Script Automation Controlled by CPU Temperature

This tutorial will help you automate Maya batch rendering to be controlled by CPU temperature. A variable is stored in a text file that render.exe will then be passed (-s flag, "start frame") to resume rendering at the exact frame Maya was last rendering when terminated. Termination of Mayabatch.exe will occur at any specified CPU temperature, and will resume when the CPU cools down, at yet another specified temperature.

You'll need to write batch scripts to do this, the information is provided in this video, along with my own setup. "SpeedFan", a free program that monitors CPU temperature and allows the user to create "events" (execution of scripts for example, when the CPU reaches a certain temperature), is used in this tutorial and may be downloaded here: http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php

To simplify the look of your batch scripts, you may create Environment Variables within Windows (under Advanced System Settings, Environment Variables) to set, for example, your rendered images directory. Environment Variables must be referenced with %variablename% (percent signs before and after variable name), and these can be used as arguments in other applications, such as render.exe for Maya. Windows Vista now adds the "SETX" command. Type "setx /?" within CMD.exe to bring up the help on this tool. SETX allows the user to write variables to the Windows Registry, but note these may only be accessed, at least in their most current form, in the next CMD session, so I used the "set" command instead of "setx" here. Text files can also store string variables too, not just numbers, of course, though in this example I just needed the text file to store an integer number variable (render.exe "start frame").

This is a good start, feel free to expand on it to suit your own needs!

Note: There is no audio track for this video.

TIP: To open a cmd.exe with the current working directory set to the folder you're viewing within Windows Explorer (explorer.exe), hold down Shift and right-click; choose the new option "Open Command Window Here" from the context menu, no need to use the "cd" (change directory) command.
