In this video, I talk honestly about discipline, raising your voice, and why screaming at your kids isn’t the answer—but setting clear expectations absolutely is.

I believe it’s okay to raise your voice when it matters, especially when safety is involved. Not out of anger. Not to intimidate. But to clearly communicate that a boundary has been crossed. The most important part, though, is what happens after that moment.

I always take the time to calm down, come back to my son, and explain:
• Why I raised my voice
• Why the behavior wasn’t acceptable
• Why safety and respect matter
• When it’s okay to be silly and when it’s time to be serious

In this video, I share a real moment where my son refused to listen during a safety situation, how I handled it, and why following up with communication mattered more than the punishment itself.

As fathers—especially single dads raising sons—we have to set the standard.
We define what’s acceptable and what isn’t.
But we also have to protect the relationship.

Discipline without connection creates fear.
Connection without discipline creates chaos.

Our kids need to know that:
• Dad is fair
• Dad is consistent
• Dad means what he says
• Dad loves them
• Dad always has their best interest at heart
