The Road to Ninja Movie was a thrill ride for me. Yeah, I know it’s not canon. But really, what is canon anymore? We said that the Blood Prison movies wasn’t canon, yet Naruto acknowledges it in Boruto. Either way, this story was good and it displayed something so good that it might have been written by Kishimoto himself. It takes time to tell a fascinating story as well as exploring the main character’s strife on an emotional level deeply. Sakura, for the first time, gets to understand what it feels like to have no parents. Naruto gets to experience what it was like to grow up with parents. At first he’s defensive, but afterward, he begins to warm up until the realization breaks immersion for him. That was so sad. In this story, we get to meet another interesting character. A boy in a fox mask who appears to have strength on par with Pain. An evil incarnation of Naruto. Menma. This version of Naruto is one who was corrupted. A dark counterpart who was manipulated by Tobi until he was freed by Naruto. Someone so similar to Naruto, yet so different. I always loved the concept of Menma. The characterization of him. His usage of the Dream Kurama without issue. I want to take Menma for a moment though and transport him into the true Naruto world. Let’s explore a world where Menma was real. A world where maybe Menma and Naruto grew up beside each other. What if Naruto and Menma were brothers?
