Virtual Production - Tutorial 1 Tracker Offset

Описание к видео Virtual Production - Tutorial 1 Tracker Offset

If you want your real and Virtual objects to match up when your camera moves, it's really important to get the right tracker offset. You need to measure from the "entrance pupil" of the lens to the base of the screw on the VIVE tracker.

This video explains the entrance pupil in a bit more detail, shows how to measure it and what happens when the measurement isn't right.

If you've been measuring the offset to the center of the sensor all this time (like me) you've probably been having a lot of alignment problems. I didn't realize this was a problem at first because I was using a very short lens, when I switched to a much longer one the error became really noticable.

You can find a website here http://www.johnhpanos.com/epcalib.htm that explains the entrance pupil (sometimes called the nodal point or no paralax point) in more detail and shows several ways to measure it. This site also explains more about the entrance pupil https://ascmag.com/blog/shot-craft/th....

Hope this helps you, getting it right really improved the alignment of real/virtual objects for me. As always the sample project is VPStudio found here https://github.com/MiloMindbender/UE4... I will be making some updates soon to allow for easier tweaking of the entrance pupil position so you can get your alignment just right.
