Turning An Heirloom Walnut Platter With Stunning Grain And Figure - Copper Owl Woodturning

In this video, I turn a rimmed platter from a hand selected blank cut out of a black walnut 8/4 slab from the shed. The stunning grain and beautiful figure along with the gorgeous coloring add all the warmth and character needed for this to become a family heirloom. Power sanded with 220-320grit sandpaper
Cleaned with denatured alcohol
Burnished with Gray Scotch-Brite pad (000 steel wool equivalent)
Sealed with 2 coats Mike Mohoney’s Utility Walnut Oil (Heat treated)
Hand buffed with ACK’S POLISH/RESTORING PASTE (2x carnuba)
