The BJP has retained control over Municipal Corporation of Delhi, now divided into three separate entities, after defeating the Congress in the civic polls. The saffron party has won 138 out of 271 wards, while the Congress has 75. In North Delhi Municipal Corporation, of the 104 seats, the BJP was leading in 60 seats, while the Congress was leading in 28. In South Delhi Municipal Corporation, of the total 104 seats, the BJP has won 43 seats while the Congress was ahead in 29 seats. In East Delhi Municipal Corporation, the BJP was ahead in 35 seats and the Congress in 18. Municipal Corporation of Delhi is responsible for 97 per cent of the capital city (while the New Delhi Municipal Corporation is responsible for the remaining three per cent).
