Hey guys Ken from investing made easy here and welcome to another video on crypto currencies. Today we will be looking at the crypto currency EOS and its protocol EOSIO. But before we start make sure you like and subscribe for future videos on cryptos.

I thought we would start on a general point on cryptocurrencies starting with the advantages. Cryptocurrencies first and foremost are designed to be secure. They are encrypted so that it is difficult for them to be hacked and most crypto currencies are anonymous. This allows you to protect your identity when purchasing goods or sending money.
The other main Advantage of cryptocurrencies is that they are decentralised. Because blockchains are open-sourced ledgers, and because every single transaction is recorded on them, it is very easy to tell if fraud is taking place. The integrity of blockchain systems is monitored and maintained by miners who validate transactions all day every day. There are thousands and thousands of miners validating blockchain transactions all around the world at any given moment in time. This gives decentralized blockchain-based cryptocurrencies an enormous amount of oversight and makes them nearly invulnerable to fraud. This is in an enormous benefit of decentralized blockchains. Decentralized blockchains allow transactions to be made directly from person to person without the assistance of a third-party. This dramatically improves financial efficiency and allows people to be less reliant on banks or other financial institutions. This can save a lot of people money for instance fees and other costs associated with using banks. This feature of blockchain technology is very appealing to many people who wish to save money in their finances.

What are the disadvantages of traditional cryptocurrencies? Firstly, they can be difficult to scale. Often blockchain networks can get bogged down with the amount of transactions which means that transactions can take minutes if not hours to complete. This can be a problem for online web stores as long verification times for payment can cause delays among other issues. Second of all the fees for some cryptocurrencies can be quite high. Its most not a problem for larger transactions because it represents only a small percentage of the total cost of the transaction. However, for smaller payments such as in-game purchases on an app the small fees can make up a huge percentage of the total cost.

Here is where we introduce the EOSIO protocol. EOSIO was introduced in 2017 and aimed to solve the problems that we have mentioned above whilst still retaining all of the reasons why cryptocurrencies are useful. At the forefront EOSIO is designed to be Scalable. Transactions on EOSIO only take half a second and are completely free, but we will talk about how this is possible later. It is also designed to be easy to use. Rather than using a string of characters for your wallet which can make it difficult to identify who you are actually sending the money to. EOSIO allows you to create a username making transactions simple. Finally, EOSIO retains all the security of blockchains such as Bitcoin.
Let’s go into a bit more depth about the advantages of EOSIO. As I have mentioned EOSIO is designed to be fast. Transactions only take half a second and this is possible because of the way the blockchain divides up the total system resources, which I will go into a bit more depth later.
EOSIO is also free when sending tokens to a friend. Selling an in-game item on an online store or really just moving the money about at all. This gives it a distinct advantage over traditional cryptocurrencies.
Finally, EOSIO is secure. EOSIO uses encryption similar to other blockchains to keep the transactions private and safe from attackers. However, the way it handles decentralisation is different from cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, we will go more into depth about the difference between Bitcoin’s ‘Proof of work’ and EOSIO’s ‘Delegated Proof of Stake’.
