As population growth drives the need for a more sustainable, higher-quality food supply, particularly as much of the world’s population becomes wealthier, new technologies are needed to modernize traditional farming. Covid caused inflation, supply chain issues, and increased energy costs, accelerating the need for affordable yet healthier options. The agricultural industry is rushing to improve yields and increase locally grown crops while relying less on chemicals to respond to the rise in environmental standards. New technologies that optimize and automate to improve yields and decrease labour costs are becoming a necessity. In addition, indoor and vertical options that are closer to end markets remove seasonality and provide a more reliable product.
