Nitin Gadkari Proposes 10% GST Hike on Diesel Vehicles, Later Clarifies | News9

Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, has requested Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to impose a 10% increase in GST on diesel engines and vehicles. His proposal aims to expedite the process of phasing out diesel-powered vehicles, addressing environmental concerns and promoting cleaner alternatives. He however later clarified that there was no proposal under government consideration to impose such a tax.
