MyBurgerLab, a beloved halal burger chain founded by Chin Ren Yi, swiftly distanced itself from the controversy. The company released a statement clarifying that Andrew was no longer employed and emphasized their commitment to training and compliance, including engagement with Jakim. For a brand that had built its reputation as an inclusive and innovative player in Malaysia’s food scene, the stakes were high.
