Baby Steps to Breastfeeding Success (English)

The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) is working with local hospitals to implement a program called "Arizona Baby Steps to Breastfeeding Success" for moms of healthy term infants who want to breastfeed. Your local hospital is likely to be making changes to their policies that will give you a better start at breastfeeding by following these steps: Initiate breastfeeding within the first hour after birth, avoid giving your baby anything other than breastmilk unless medically necessary, keep your baby with you 24 hours a day during your hospital stay by rooming-in with your baby, avoid bottles and pacifiers during the first few weeks so you are able to build a great milk supply, and know the Arizona Department of Health Services' 24 hour breastfeeding hotline phone number at 1-800-833-4642, if you have any questions.
