In this speech Erdogan argues that God holds true authority on humankind and secularism is a "big fat lie." According to Erdogan Turkiye's secular Constitution was written by "drunkards" and it needs to go.

He argues that the unmodifiable article in the Turkish Constitution which states, "Sovereignty belongs absolutely to the people," is a lie since it denies the authority of God over the people.

On September 12, 2010 Tayyip Erdogan's administration gathered enough public votes to make open-ended changes to the Constitution. One of the first changes to the Constitution was to reduce the parliamentary votes needed in law-making decisions from the majority of 367 votes to a mere 184 votes.

Currently there are further changes already in discussion, which include removing words such as "democracy" and "secular" and leave the name of the country flexible to possible changes in the future.
