Premiers comment following Council of the Federation meeting in Winnipeg – July 12, 2023

Provincial and territorial leaders hold a news conference following the Council of the Federation’s summer meeting in Winnipeg. Premiers are calling for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to convene a first ministers' meeting on infrastructure. Speaking with reporters are premiers Heather Stefanson (Manitoba), François Legault (Québec), Doug Ford (Ontario), Scott Moe (Saskatchewan), David Eby (British Columbia), Andrew Furey (Newfoundland and Labrador), Dennis King (Prince Edward Island), Blaine Higgs (New Brunswick), Danielle Smith (Alberta), Tim Houston (Nova Scotia), and Caroline Cochrane (Northwest Territories). Affordability issues, improving health care, Canada's competitiveness and economic growth were the focus of the meeting, which was chaired by Stefanson in her capacity as council head.
