1996-2000 Honda Civic Door Locks Not Working

So I went to lock my door with my aftermarket alarm and came back to open the door when the alarm system went off. I realized I had locked my doors and armed the car but the door locks never engaged to lock. After much researching and trying the grounding method, turns out one negative wire to the lock/unlock switch had either broke or shorted off somewhere. I didn't feel like digging into the loom and taking off the front fender to gain access to it, so I just splice into the negative wire and grounded it to the door. Either way it worked and my door locks and unlocks again. Thanks for watching and hope this helps anyone with the same issue.
