Many people around the world know about maikos and geishas. But have you ever heard of yujyo and oiran?

If you are reading One Piece “Wano kuni” story, you may be nodding now.Komurasaki, or Hiyori Kogetsu appeared as an oiran, the top of the yujyo in Wano kuni.

But what are yujyo and oiran? They are beautiful women wearing fancy kimonos too, but how are they different from maikos and geishas?

So today, I will talk about the history of yujyo and yukaku, and explain who the oiran were. At the end of the video, I will also introduce the famous “oiran dochu”, the oiran walk.
