Hey guys! Look who returned! 🕶 I wanted to bring you all the next clip in my "Lore Accurate" series, starring the Legendary Dark Slayer himself once again! So, yes, while we know that Vergil could decimate entire demon armies in a single blow, I feel like for the sake of a combo showcase, that the one hit mode, "Heaven or Hell" wouldn't lend itself well to this. It'd feel unsatisfying for me and the way the format goes when I make these videos, is that I play with a 0.2 player damage modifier.
Meaning Vergil's attacks do less damage, and I can actually get some combos in while vibing to the music! Believe me when I say this; When you master Vergil's combat in the console versions of DMC5 (Both vanilla and Special Edition), waves can go blisteringly fast. We're talking no more than 30 seconds or less. 😂 Vergil is truly overpowered, and we love it! In my case, since I have the PC version, I love experimenting and over time, I found 0.2 player damage to be the perfect sweet spot.
Enemies are tankier, but I'm actually able to showcase Vergil's stylishly deadly and brutal fighting style. When I use the term "Lore Accurate", I'm more referring to me playing with the kind of speed and surgical precision that we're used to seeing from Vergil in cutscenes. Note how for 2 minutes, I maintain the SSS rank without letting it go. Speaking of speed, I recorded this video in 1.5x/50% turbo mode! Which felt like absolute insanity, and an absurdly high speed!
Because that meant I had to perform Vergil's inputs including his Just Frame attack Just Judgement Cut even faster than before! Which made this whole video a true challenge and the fastest Vergil gameplay you'll see from me yet. Normally I've recorded in 1.3x/1.4x turbo speed in the past. This was also recorded in true 4K 60fps ultra settings with no HUD, for a more cinematic feel! I also wanted to say, I truly believe that Devil May Cry's biggest and hardest challenge is the self imposed one of striving to make really awesome, creative combos on the fly.
That's the kind of stuff that demands the player to pour a good amount of time into! Combine that with Dante Must Die or Legendary Dark Knight mode, and the rest is history! Also, mindlessly mashing the attack button over and over and claiming the game isn't hard doesn't prove any points because Devil May Cry is a franchise that incentivizes player expression, to look as cool as possible whenever you're playing. Not the adverse effect of looking lame due to being creatively bankrupt. You gotta think outside the box. That's what sets it apart from other games. Not understanding this is missing the point of DMC's combat philosophy entirely. Anyway, enjoy, everyone!
