Bass Odyssey Sound System is one of modern history's most popular and successful Jamaican sounds. The sound system was formed in 1989, and in 1995, Keith and Bunny split. Keith maintained a Bass Odyssey from way out in the country based in Alexandria, St Ann, Jamaica. Bunny continued with a Bass Odyssey based in Duhaney Park, Kingston. Bunny eventually closed down his operation, and Keith went on to lead a highly successful version of Bass Odyssey to the present day.

In this video, Bunny tells his side of the story. Stephen Bunny Hayles hails from a musical family where his father, Sydney, played with Hedley Jones in the Silver Living Night Club Band in 1939. Sydney was also a leading jukebox repairman and a top public address system serviceman in the early 1940s, working on early sound systems like Goodies and Count Nick. Sydney Hayles is a "pioneer of pioneers" regarding sound systems. Sydney ran his own Tom The Cat Sound System (as a public address system) as early as 1951-1952.

This video features scenes from the very first dance held by Bass Odyssey on Saturday, 18 November 1989. At the second anniversary dance held on 17 November 1991, Bass Odyssey appeared with two other sounds: Sly, Slick, & Wicked Sound System, owned by Steve Gregg, and Easy Rock Sound System. Squingy (Kevin Bennett) was working with Easy Rock that night, and the experience resulted in Squingy joining forces with Keith and Bunny to work with Bass Odyssey.
