2021 Live Review 8 | AP Biology | Ecology and the Biological Mechanisms Involved in Growth

Описание к видео 2021 Live Review 8 | AP Biology | Ecology and the Biological Mechanisms Involved in Growth

In this AP Daily: Live Review session, we will review ecology and the biological mechanisms involved in growth. We will emphasize the skills of experimentation, mathematical calculations, and biological explanations.

We will highlight four topics in Unit 8: Ecology. The session examines Topic 8.1: Responses to the Environment, with a close look at the behavioral responses of organisms and the effect of their overall fitness on the success of the population. Within this topic, we will focus on identifying experimental procedures that are aligned to the question, including identifying dependent and independent variables. We will cover Topic 8.2: Energy Flow Through Ecosystems to review the strategies that organisms use to acquire and use energy and the changes in energy availability that affect populations and ecosystems. During this topic discussion, we will go over how to explain the relationship between experimental results and larger biological concepts. The session will discuss both Topic 8.3: Population Ecology, which addresses factors that influence growth dynamics of populations, and Topic 8.4: Effect of Density of Populations, which addresses how the density of a population affects and is determined by resource availability in the environment. The video will use the content to practice mathematical calculations, including rates. Finally, we will conclude with Topic 8.5: Community Ecology, which looks at species composition and diversity. We will review how to use confidence intervals to determine if sample means are statistically different.
