Fasting Chosen by God. परमेश्वरले चुन्नुभएको उपवास. Kaushila Bhandari

इतिहासको एक समयमा इजरायलीहरु परमेश्वरले उनीहरुको उपवास र आफैलाई नम्र पारेको कुरालाई वेवास्ता गर्नुभएको छ भनेर गुनासो गरे । जवाफमा परमेश्वरले भन्नुभयो कि उनीहरुले उपवासको समयमा उहाँको इच्छा नखोजेर आफूलाई जे मन लाग्यो त्यहि मात्र गरेका थिए । आज पनि, हामी उपवास र प्रार्थना गर्दागर्दै पनि परिस्थिति नबदलिएको देखेर निराश हुने गर्छौँ । तर हाम्रो उपवास र प्रार्थना परमेश्वरको अगाडि ग्रहणयोग्य हुनको लागि हामीले आफैलाई नम्र बनाएर उहाँको इच्छा खोजी गर्न होशियार हुनुपर्छ । हाम्रो उपवास केवल शरीरलाई दु:ख दिन र उदास भएर बस्न मात्र सिमित नहोस् । तर हामीले यो समयमा परमेश्वरमा रमाउन, उहाँको वचन र आज्ञाकारी हुन केन्द्रित हुनुपर्छ ।
At one point in history, Israelites complained to God that He did not take notice of their fasting and humbling before Him. In response, God replied that they did whatever pleased them during fasting, without seeking His will. Even today, we might have been disgruntled at seeing our situation remain the same despite our fasting and prayers. But, we have to be careful to humble ourselves before God and seek His will as we desire our fasting and prayer to be acceptable to Him. Our fasting should not just be about tormenting our flesh and dwelling in despair. But, we should focus on rejoicing in God, His Word, and being obedient during this time.
