A low-pass filter is a filter that passes signals with a frequency lower than a selected cutoff frequency and attenuates signals with frequencies higher than the cutoff frequency. These filters are usually applied after RF amplifiers (MMIC, Gain-block and Class C amplifiers) for suppression of high-order harmonics of radio-frequency signals, or placed at the mixer output to filter out high-frequency interference that plays a role in frequency selection.

An Elliptic filter (also known as a Cauer filter), compared with others filters such as Butterworth and Chebyshev of equal order can have a faster transition in gain between the passband and the stopband.

If you are ordering a custom filter, in the ordering note, specify the cutoff frequency in [MHz] at -3dB level in the range of 1 – 1000 MHz.
