The day after the Erie County Fair closed (Mon 8/20/12), the James E Strates Shows packs up for the move to Syracuse. They load the old fashioned way by driving up a ramp onto the railroad car. Buffalo Southern Railroad (BSOR) in Hamburg, NY does the switching every year, usually with Alco RS-36 5010 (ex D&H) and RS-18 1847 (ex CP). Strates Shows is the only carnival in the U.S. that still travels by train. They are based in Orlando, Fl and travel the eastern seaboard every year.
