I was lucky enough to be asked to dep for a gig with Isembards Wheel, having never played with a folk band or performed harmony vocals before, this was a great experience.

This is some of the video footage I shot that day- This features the first two sections of the Song Of Scythes Suite performed together.

Written and performed by Alexander "Fox" Isembard on guitar and lead vocals.

The Song of Scythes tells the story of the Reaper, who lived in Alex's west country hometown sometime in the 15th century.

He possessed a Scythe, for harvesting grain, and (as was common to relive weight), he had drilled a hole in the side of the tool. Because of this, when he held it up to the wind, it would produce a whistling noise. Through this, he gained the nickname "Whistleblade".

This story inspired Fox to create the 3 part Song Of Scythes Suite. The third section is called "A Town Called Fallow", and does not appear here, as the song was not finished at the time.

The first section of the song (Whistleblade), speaks of the legacy of The Reaper and imagines what his life may have meant to those around him.

The Birds Take Flight is an instrumental which serves a more cinematic purpose, setting the scene of Fallow, where Whistleblade's story will take place.

The Song of Scythes Suite will be released on the forthcoming album "Long Run The Fox", which will be the third release from Isembards Wheel, and their second LP.
