Jack Taylor – AMGA Ski Guide Course Movement Video

My name is Jack Taylor and I live in Bozeman, MT. I am 28 years old and I’ve been skiing my whole life. I’m applying for an SGC because I want to become a great ski guide. I intend to pursue a full IFMGA certification.

This video contains a selection of clips that my friends have taken of me skiing over the past few years. Unfortunately, I did not plan to apply for an SGC during this past ski season—therefore, I do not have clips that were taken to fulfill the exact requirements for this video. Specifically, I do not have any clips of myself making turns on groomed terrain.

However, I hope what I have here will suffice to show that I am a competent and confident skier. In lieu of the short-radius groomed turns video, I have a clip of myself putting a 720 to bolts off a park jump on touring skis. In lieu of the long-radius groomed turns video, I have a clip of myself making long-radius turns down a backcountry run with snow conditions that closely resembled groomed terrain—just an inch or two of fresh on top of a firm, smooth base.

If necessary, I am happy to make an updated video with clips on groomed terrain once I can get on snow this year. I could get this done by early December, 2024.
