Feature documentary film "The Singing City" introduces us to the unique life style of the people of Cádiz, a small-big city in the south of Spain by the Atlantic bay, capital of liberty in the true sense of the words, where human relations and people's voices are still the first in place. During the Cádiz street Carnival, demonstration of creativity and open-mindedness, with a lot of good humor, incredible energy, sincerity and musicality "Los Gaditanos" (inhabitants of Cádiz) tell us their story in an symphonic mixture of street interviews and singing in the streets, that could inspire everyone in searching ways how to get happy, proving that material crisis does not have to lead into social crisis.

'La ciudad que canta' su mal espanta

Imaginen un antiguo y soleado puerto en donde la gente no para de sonreir. Una ciudad en la que la amistad está por encima de todo y no se tienen en cuenta las diferencias sociales o de edad. Piensen en un lugar donde sus habitantes se expresan cantando sin perder el ánimo ni la fuerza incluso en la peor situación de crisis. Esa ciudad existe. Y se llama Cádiz.

Que sea la urbe más antigua del oeste europeo, con 3.000 años de historia, es un dato que pesa kilos para el director serbio Marko Simic, quien, junto a Natasa Simic, nos muestra su forma de ver a tan singular pueblo en el documental 'La ciudad que canta'/ The Singing city'.
"Los gaditanos son gente de mente abierta y gran corazón, el resultado de la mezcla de las diferentes culturas que allí existieron", explica Simic. Un director que ha sabido percibir esa fuerza y la artística complejidad la "tacita de plata" en un largo que pretende explicar Cádiz alrededor de su carnaval en la calle. Una explosión "única de creatividad, humor ingenioso y musicalidad" para el realizador. 'La ciudad que canta' se estructura como un mosaico de canciones y entrevistas al pueblo de Cádiz en pleno carnaval que busca "hacer sonreir, también emocionar e incluso inspirar"...
