Ujjain, a holy city in Madhya Pradesh, is known for the Shree Mahakaleshwar Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. The temple's unique Bhasma Aarti is a ritual involving the application of sacred ash to the deity, for which many devotees also visit. The newly opened Mahakal Lok (corridor) is the newest attraction, with beautiful statues and installations. Along with this, there are many other temples that make Ujjain one of the most holy places in India.

Nearest Airport - Indore (50 km approx)

Nearest Bus Stop - Ujjain
Stay - Shree Ganga Hotel (This is where I stayed, its a decent hotel around 4 km from the Mahakaleshwar Temple)
Travel - Temple visit by autorickshaw for the entire day (Rs. 400-600)

Tips -
1. Visit Shree Mahakaleshwar Temple early in the morning and Shree Kaal Bhairav Temple during lunchtime to avoid rush hours ( the most amount of time for darshan you would spend is at Shree Kaal Bhairav Temple so be prepared)
2. VIP darshan available at Shree Mahakaleshwar Temple at Rs. 250, no other temple has VIP darshan
3. Witnessing Aarti at Shree Harsiddhi Mata Temple is a must, aarti time is 6.30 pm - 7 pm however to get a seat inside the temple visit around 6 pm.
4. Bhasam Aarti is also a unique aarti to attend at Shree Mahakaleshwar Temple, slots of which could be booked via the official website at least 2-3 months in advance - https://shrimahakaleshwar.com/bhasmarti
5. Mahakal Lok timings - 6 am - 9.30 pm (apparently large cameras are not allowed inside)
