Lemurs live on the island of Madagascar and have many adaptations that help the many species of Lemurs survive.

Lemurs are primates found only on the island of Madagascar.The harsh, seasonal climate, and isolation have caused Lemurs to develop unusual traits and adaptations in order to survive. Lemurs have evolved into at least 40 different species.
They are highly adaptive to different food sources and life on the island of Madagascar.
Let’s take a look at some examples of how Lemurs have adapted.

The Sifaka is highly specialized for climbing and moving about in trees were they eat leaves,flowers, and fruit.. As a result this Lemur cannot walk or run in an a usual way but instead hops sideways when it is on solid ground. However in the trees it is amazing

The AyeAye has a slender middle finger that it uses to extract insects that bore into trees like grubs.

The mouse Lemur has huge eyes that help it see at night and it’s very small size allows it to climb easily through trees and shrubs in search of fruit and small vertebrates like Geckos

Ring tailed Lemurs live in groups called troops.
