Various shots of General Bernard Montgomery posing for camera on the steps of a building with Russian officers and soldiers. They chat together (with the help of an interpreter), then Monty hands the officer some kind of book.



They all go inside the building. Dark shots inside show the men sitting and talking.



Guard of Honour. Monty salutes from the other side of the road. A staff cars arrive; Russian officers get out and are greeted by Monty. L/S of cannon firing salute. Russian officers inspect British soldiers; Russian cameraman films it all. Monty and Russian officer (General?) pose together outside building. Inside we see Monty raising a toast then the men sit and talk. Monty and Russian officer clink wine glasses for a photograph.



The group come outside again and walk about. Monty and others salute as the Russian drive off. Two army cameramen (US military press?) get into a jeep and smile at the camera before saying goodbye to comrades. Russian hammer and sickle flag is hoisted up a flagpole.
