💙 On World Humanitarian Day, we honor all humanitarian workers around the world — those who stand on the frontlines of crises, driven not by fearlessness but by love and service. They are our hands and hearts where help is needed most.

Yet the price they pay is devastating. In 2025 alone, 245 humanitarian workers have been killed worldwide. Most were local staff, serving their own communities.

Ukraine is no exception. At least 6 humanitarian workers have been killed here this year, and dozens more injured. Protecting humanitarian workers in Ukraine — as everywhere — means protecting the people they serve.

Honoring humanitarian workers means more than gratitude. It means upholding international law, holding violators accountable, and ensuring humanitarian access is never conditional.

This is a moment for EU leaders and the international community to recommit to the principles that define humanitarian action. Because in the end, humanitarian assistance is not only about relief — it is about resilience, justice, and hope.
