Beyond the Burning: A year after Australia’s devastating summer of bushfires that burned an area the size of England, communities and landscapes heal through application of indigenous knowledge and renewable energy

Smoke circled the globe as catastrophic fires engulfed Australia in 2019/20, destroying homes, ecosystems and animals. ‘We witnessed an apocalypse', says one resident who attributes the fires to climate change. A visiting wildlife photographer agrees: 'This is a global phenomenon. We're in the age of fire'. Alongside focusing on indigenous knowledge of the land, renewables are heralded as essential to preventing more devastation.
