(b) Timeframe: 2018-Dec to Present
(c) Description: the Ploddings site is a digital media project that contains a continuously growing archive of, primarily, pre-war blues style guitar transcriptions, sourced from original recordings, which more simply could be called a collection of guitar tablature for mainly African-American folk styles. It's free and open for public usage, with no fees or limits to use it, and can be used as a resource or reference for those who wish to analyze the note-for-note guitar playing of musicians such as Reverend Gary Davis, Louis Lasky, John Fahey, Etta Baker, Elizabeth Cotten, Charley Patton, and many others. The project was launched by the host of this video, and the transcriptions are all done also by the host.

Section [B] - Disclaimer

**Please note this disclaimer when viewing this video,

1. Primary vs. Secondary Sources: in the view of the host of this video, actually, the more effective way to learn this music is by going straight to the primary source; the original recording. That may involve: (i) sourcing the original recording, (ii) slowing the playback down, to catch its details, and (iii) noting the pitches and rhythms on paper or in mind. Contrary to this approach, this video can be called a secondary source; a purveyor of information, that is intermediary to the primary source, or possibly even to other intermediaries, which may inevitably risk some loss of signal-to-noise. Nonetheless, a secondary source may still provide value, though it is encouraged to keep in mind that, perhaps particularly with the pre-war blues style, relying on secondary sources (who are often more modern, disconnected sources), compared to using primary sources, may result in, to use a turn-of-phrase, an apple that falls father from the tree. Do you remember the game, "Telephone"?

For more information on how to go about analyzing this music from its primary sources, the live transcriptions that are occasionally done on this channel can be viewed as examples:    • Showing a process for learning pre-war blu...

2. String-naming: One of the oddities of the early 2010s videos from this channel is the backwards string-naming; for example, the string widely referred to as the 6th-strong, being instead referred to as the 1st-string. It's nearly as regrettable as it is unchangeable. If it can be recalled correctly, it stemmed from an initial video where they were referred to in reverse fashion, and, to maintain consistency, future videos kept that convention. At some point along the way, the convention aligned with that of the typical guitar convention, though still a bit tardily. If this happens to be a video where this phenomenon occurs, then fear not - it's not just you!
