The company claims to be upgrading the HVAC system it uses in its electric cars for the home market. High-efficiency heat pumps and Tesla High Efficiency Particulate Air Filters will be updated to make them perfect for Texas homes.
Elon Musk has been talking about this for years, but it doesn’t sound like the product is in an advanced stage of development yet. It may take a while to figure out how to improve your home's HVAC system in the most efficient way, but we're still hoping it'll be out by mid-2023.
So let's talk about how Tesla HVAC solves the problem in Texas.
Firstly, in Texas, where temperatures have reached more than 105 degrees this week, the cost of electricity was "beyond affordable" for most low-income households. On average, families spend about 8% of their income on energy expenses.
Traditional HVAC systems are among the most energy-demanding products in homes and are becoming increasingly necessary with extreme heat waves in Texas.

A Texan says she pays about $350 a month for electricity when the city sees triple-digit temperatures. The three window air-conditioning units in her 789-square-foot apartment are only able to cool the rooms to about 80-85 degrees. So the cost of energy remains a concern.
Elon Musk has stated that Tesla hopes to enter HVAC and produce new high-efficiency heat pumps with a host of innovative benefits for residential homeowners.
In theory, the new heat pump uses 20% less energy than traditional pumps.Because heat pumps are a completely different and much smarter way to heat and cool your home. In the winter, the heat pump uses super-cold liquid to attract heat from outside your home and then transports it inside. Both of these transportation processes use far less energy than trying to produce heat from scratch.
