Gangland robber Elias Morgan has been jailed for a minimum of 45 years for the cold-blooded murder of prison officer Lenny Scott.

On 8 February 2024, Morgan ambushed Scott outside a gym in Skelmersdale, shooting him six times in what police called an “assassination.”

The killing was revenge for events that started four years earlier, when investigators at HMP Altcourse discovered Morgan’s forbidden phone and exposed his affair with prison officer Sarah Williams. When Scott refused Morgan’s £1,500 bribe to cover it up, he made chilling threats — including:
👉 “I’ll bide my time, but I promise I will get you.”

Years later, Morgan followed through on the threat.

Judge Mr Justice Goose described Morgan as a “cold-blooded executioner”, while Scott’s family described the father-of-three as brave, honest, and principled — a man who “paid the ultimate price for doing his job.”

This case raises hard questions about gangland revenge, prison safety, and the risks faced by those working inside the system.
