- Des véhicules blindés traversent la commune de Gavray dans la Manche : chars M4 Sherman, M10 Tank Destroyer, half-track M3. Sur l'un des véhicules se dresse le bouillant général Joseph "Lightning Joe" Lawton Collins, commandant le VII Corps américain, qui assiste à la construction par des sapeurs d'un pont Bailey au-dessus de la rivière de La Sienne. Dans la région, des colonnes de soldats allemands sont conduits vers un camp de prisonniers.
