At Angleton, most felt the marching band had reached it’s plateau in 2005 when they made the UIL 5A Area Marching Championships. Over the past 15 years or so, the Wildcat Band has been good, but never reached the Area again. 4 years ago, Richard Thomas, was hired as the new Band Director and his first order of business was to make sure his band wasn’t satisfied with being good. He wanted them to strive for greatness.

Over the past few years, the Angleton Band has been filling up the trophy case as they’ve been getting high marks at several competitions. And this year, for the first time since 2005, the Wildcat Band did qualify for the Area Finals. The goal they set in the summer that almost seemed unattainable, was met by this group of dedicated musicians. And boy did it feel great.

Now the bandroom is the place to be at Angleton. A new Jazz Band Class has been created to satisfy a need to be well rounded in their music selection. But most importantly, the bandroom is where these kids go to be part of a second family.
