Part-5, Class-12, Chapter-4. Determinants , NCERT Exercise 4.5, Question (5-11) .
"Minors and Cofactors, Find adjoint and Inverse of a matrix .
Tips:-
Adjoint of a matrix:-
The Adjoint of a square matrix A=[aij] is defined as the transpose of the matrix [Aij] , where Aij is the cofactor of the element aij. Adjoint of the matrix A is denoted by adj A.
Definition:- Minors of an element aij of a determinant is the determinant obtained by deleting it's ith row and jth column in which element aij lies .Minor of an element aij is denoted by Mij.
Using determinants.
Definition of Determinants:- To every square matrix A=[aij] of order n can be associated to a number (real or complex)called Determinant of the square matrix of A.
It is denoted by |A| or detA
(i) | A | read as Determinant of A and not modulus
(ii) Only Square matrices have Determinant
(1) Determinant of a matrix of order one
let A=[aij] be the matrix of order 1,
then |A|=a
(i) Rows of the Matrix:- The horizontal lines of the elements are said to constitute rows of Matrix.
(ii) Columns of the Matrix:-
Order Of a Matrix:- A Matrix having The vertical lines of the elements are said to constitute Columns of the matrix.
As per CBSE Syllabus:-
DETERMINANTS:-
Determinant of a square matrix ( up to 3×3 matrices),minors, co-factors and applications of Determinantin finding area of a triangle. Adjoint and inverse of a square matrix. Consistency, Inconsistency and number of Solutions of system of linear Equations by examples, solving system of linear Equations in Two or three variables( having unique solution) Using inverse of matrix .
Order of a matrix :- A Matrix having m rows and n columns is called a Matrix of order m×n.
