Xi Jinping’s Saudi trip & Sino-Arab relations; Chinese-Yuan oil vs. petrodollar

Chinese leader Xi Jinping visited Saudi Arabia and attended the first China-Arab Summit and the China-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit. In contrast to the muted reception Joe Biden received when visiting Riyadh, Xi Jinping received a lavish welcome. But there are several reasons why the state media went low-key on Xi's Middle Eastern trip. He didn't get the Saudi crown prince to challenge the petrodollar and agree to trade oil in the Chinese yuan. After Xi's Saudi trip, Iran protests the joint statements Beijing issued in Riyadh.
