We're on a luxurious 10-night Seine River cruise with Scenic.

And today we're exploring a little gem in the French country side the town of Giverny.

For a country that has delivered so much like frogs legs and the bikini, France is also responsible for some of the greatest artistic minds to have ever lived.

It really is a bit of an honour to be able to explore this area of France, where Monet and van Gogh started the Impressionist movement.

The thing that I love the most is that you're not just seeing it from afar, you are literally standing in one of their canvases.

Yes this is Monet’s private garden; the grounds are kept exactly as he left them nearly a century ago, filled with light and colour all destined for his paintbrush.

Pretty easy to see why Monet loved this garden.

In the 40 years Monet lived here he painted some of his most well-known masterpieces.

If you're a fan then a visit inside the family home is a must; this is where the man whose paintings now sell for over 80 million dollars spent half of his life.

Another artistic genius was the dramatic and often-troubled Vincent van Gogh, he lived just an hour down the road in the beautiful town of Auvers-sur-Oise.

Wow the atmosphere and feeling in this place is just incredible.

Scenic give you a chance to visit his tiny attic room where he lived and worked. Tragically though this was also where he eventually died from a gunshot wound right above his much-loved café.

Because Vincent committed suicide the church didn't allow him a proper funeral, so what they did they brought his coffin down here placed it on the table surrounded by eighty of his paintings and this is where his family and friends were able to pay their respects. It is just amazing that it happened right here

The town is now like a living Vincent museum with reminders everywhere of his amazing life.

While you're visiting it's pretty easy to see why this beautiful region of France attracted such incredible talent.
