The Iron Throne (Game of Thrones) is an American television series in the fantasy genre created by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, broadcast from October 18, 2011 to May 19, 2019 on the cable channel HBO for 73 episodes in eight seasons. It originated as a TV adaptation of the Chronicles of Ice and Fire (A Song of Ice and Fire) novel cycle by George R. R. Martin. Scenes were filmed in the United Kingdom, Canada, Croatia, Iceland, Malta, Morocco and Spain.

The series chronicles the adventures of many characters and is set in a large fictional world consisting mainly of Westeros (Westeros) and the Eastern continent (Essos). The largest and most civilized center of Westeros is the capital city King's Landing, where the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms is located. La serie racconta le avventure di molti personaggi ed è ambientata in un grande mondo immaginario costituito principalmente dal continente Occidentale (Westeros) e da quello Orientale (Essos). Il centro più grande e civilizzato del continente Occidentale è la città capitale Approdo del Re, dove si trova il Trono di Spade dei Sette Regni. La lotta per la conquista del trono porta le più potenti e nobili famiglie del continente a scontrarsi o allearsi tra loro in un contorto gioco di potere, che coinvolge anche l'ultima discendente della dinastia regnante deposta.
