Rishi Vashishta is one of the most revered sages in Hinduism, known for his wisdom and knowledge. He is believed to have authored several hymns in the Rig-Veda and is considered one of the Saptarishis, the seven great sages of ancient India.
Goddess Tara, on the other hand, is a prominent figure in Buddhism , particularly in Tibetan Buddhism and Tantric traditions. she is known as a bodhisattva, a being who has attained enlightenment but chooses to remain in the cycle of rebirth to help others.
In Hinduism, Tara is another form of Adi sakti -goddes Durga.
The story goes that Rishi Vashishta saw the goddess Tara in Tarapith of Birbhum district, Some people believe that Tarapitha is also a Saktipitha, but the story is different. In this video, you will get information about Rishi Vashishta and Goddess Tara.
Tarapith Maha Sasan is a sacred site located near the Tarapith Temple, renowned for its tantric rituals. Goddess Tara is worshiped here in the form of a twinkling light, symbolizing a fearsome Tantric aspect of Adhya-Shakti. The site is recognized as one of the 52 Peeths where pieces of the dead body of "Sati" had fallen, with supernatural and extraordinary powers.
According to history, Maharishi Vashistha, the guru of Ramachandra, performed rituals at this site to attain siddha or perfection in viewing the deity and obtain her blessings from Goddess Tara. Later, the worship of Goddess Tara began with Tantric rituals following the Panchamakar Vidhi or Sadhana order. Tarapith, located in Birbhum district of West Bengal, is a renowned religious destination that is famous for the temple of Tara Ma and Sadhan Pith of Sadhak Bamakhyapa. According to legend, Tarapith is the place where the eyeball (Tara) of Sati fell. However, some also believe that the sage Basistha worshipped the Goddess Sati in the form of Tara, making the place holy. The temple is dedicated to the destructive aspect of Shiva, taking the form of Kali. It is unique in that it is situated near a cremation ground and blood offerings are made as part of the worship. The temple features two Tara images, with the stone image camouflaged by a metal image that the devotees see. Tarapith is a special temple that offers strong rituals and hymns to make it a truly unique and sacred place.
