If you're relocating to beautiful Seattle, but not sure where to start or how to prepare, in this video we are going to go over our top tips to make your move smooth and stress free!
As you may know already Seattle offers a vibrant lifestyle, breathtaking natural beauty, and a thriving job market. But before you start packing your bags, there are a few things you need to know to make your relocation a successful one.
Tip #1 for relocating to Seattle is to research the neighborhoods. Seattle is a city of diverse neighborhoods, each with its unique charm and character that may suit one's taste more than another. Check out our other videos where we go in depth on the different neighborhoods of Seattle, and if you can, make a visit out here to explore the different neighborhoods to find the one that best suits your lifestyle and preferences. Whether you're looking for a bustling urban vibe or a quieter suburban atmosphere, Seattle has something for everyone. Consider factors such as proximity to schools, amenities, commute times, and community activities. Now, in a nutshell, we've got downtown Seattle and South Lake Union, which are the city's central business districts, super busy, all the touristy stuff is between downtown and SLU like Pike Place, the Space Needle, the sports arenas, Gas Works Park, etc, and so these two are very ideal for our young professionals and those who appreciate the excitement of city living. Then we've got Madrona, Leschi, and Madison Park which are very family friendly, as suburban as it gets in Seattle, they offer lots of family friendly amenities like parks, great schools, plus great views of downtown. And then South Seattle, Beacon Hill, and West Seattle are going to be your happy mediums, still quite busy but also family friendly, these are also our more affordable neighborhoods in Seattle - you have great access to amenities but still pretty chill areas to live in. But do your research - this is where having a local expert on call is going to come in handy, my team is happy to have a conversation with you about your lifestyle and location preferences and help you figure out which areas would suit you best. There will be a link to a form in the description below to start that personalized search, but let's move on to Tip #2, which is:
Prepare for the weather - People LOVE to talk smack about how it rains and pours all year long and this is true to some extent, Seattle is notorious for our rainy climate. I will say it's mild most of the year, but definitely make sure to pack appropriately - a good raincoat, some waterproof shoes, and an umbrella go very far and will save you from getting soaked at a moment's notice as the weather does get quite temperamental here. It is true that if you use an umbrella you look like a tourist here, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Be ready too because our summers get HOT - up to 80s sometimes even 90s - it's the most beautiful time of year and everyone's out walking, boating, hiking, summer is a great time in Seattle.
And lastly Tip #3 - if you need to sell a home before moving to Seattle, you'll want to work with a couple trusted professionals to create a solid game plan. There are a couple different scenarios you might be working with and a lot of moving factors - whether you need to sell your current home first before buying your next house, or if renting the current home is an option, or if you want to secure the next house before selling the first one, there are a number of ways your move could pan out so it's very important to have a good conversation with your agent in your state AND your agent in Seattle as your relocation specialists - about your timeline, your moving AND your next house budget, and the things to know to make that sell-buy process a smooth one. So if this applies to you, there IS a calendar link down below to book a meeting with my team and get started on your moving plans, and if you need a referral to a great agent in your state we have a nationwide network of real estate professionals and are happy to make the connect!
