He excelled in multiple sports during his school years at Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool in Pretoria, including rugby, tennis, swimming, and badminton.

Despite his talent in various sports, cricket became his primary focus, and he was reportedly shortlisted for national selections in multiple sports. 

International Cricket Career:

De Villiers made his international debut for South Africa in a Test match against England in 2004. 

He quickly established himself as a prolific batsman, known for his innovative and unorthodox shots, earning him the nickname "Mr. 360" for his ability to play shots all around the wicket. 

He holds the record for the fastest ODI century (31 balls) and the fastest ODI 50 (16 balls), among other batting records. 

De Villiers captained the South African national team in all three formats of the game. 

He retired from international cricket in 2018, at the age of 34, citing fatigue and a desire to spend more time with his family. 

IPL Career:

De Villiers played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL, where he became a fan favorite and formed a formidable partnership with Virat Kohli. 

His performances in the IPL were crucial to RCB's success, and he was known for his explosive hitting and match-winning contributions.
