Republican baptism is an ancient custom, which aims to introduce one's child into the republican community by giving him a godfather and godmother. It does not create any legal link between them and the baptized baby.
Baptism cannot take place if one of the parents objects. For adopted children, the final adoption judgment must have been pronounced.
